President's Message
Welcome to a new season at Macksville-Scotts Head SLSC
As part of the Committee's commitment to improve communication within the Club this website has been developed. I would encourage all members to use it so that it can become our primary means of communication.
We have a proud and long honoured tradition of no lives lost whilst patrols were on duty and this was again the case for the 2007/2008 season and we look forward to the same success in 2008/2009.
The success of the Club depends on the efforts of many and I thank all those who have contributed in a positive sense to the results of the Club.
Our Club has been fortunate to have had wonderful support from a number of businesses and individuals. I must acknowledge our sponsors who are shown on the website. I would also like to acknowledge the Bonser family, Ivy & Ron Eades, Nambucca Shire Council, Cactus and Judy Moran and our many volunteers who help cater on our carnival dinner and on the other fundraising activities we hold during the year.
I look forward to the continued involvement of all existing members during the season to ensure the continued success of the Club.

Become a Surf Lifesaver

Change your life this summer...
What are the benefits of being a member of SLSA?
Surf lifesaving is about satisfaction. Having fun, being physically fit, learning teamwork and aquatic safety skills, competing in surf sports, and helping make surfing a safer pastime.
SLSA can offer a range of opportunities which will promote:
- A healthy lifestyle
- A sense of pride
- A sense of responsibility and purpose
- Positive social relationships
There is a place for everyone in surf lifesaving. If you are unable to perform the duties of an active surf lifesaver, then perhaps assistance in the administration, communications or fundraising areas is for you.

Beach Safety

SLSA Surf Safety Tips
Remember the F-L-A-G-S and stay safe this summer…
F Find the flags and swim between them - the red and yellow flags mark the safest place to swim at the beach.
L Look at the safety signs - they help you identify potential dangers and daily conditions at the beach.
A Ask a surf lifesaver for some good advice - surf conditions can change quickly so talk to a surf lifesaver or lifeguard before entering the water.
G Get a friend to swim with you - so you can look out for each other's safety and get help if needed. Children should always be supervised by an adult.
S Stick your hand up for help - if you get into trouble in the water, stay calm, raise your arm to signal for help. Float with a current or rip - don't try and swim against it.
